David Howard Thornton is an American actor best known for his role as Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise, first appearing as Art in 'The 9th Circle' (short film, 2008) and portraying the character in follow-up films in the series including 'Terrifier' (short film, 2011), 'All Hallow's Eve' (2013), 'Terrifier' (2016), 'Terrifier 2' (2022), and 'Terrifier 3' (2024). Thornton also appeared as Art the Clown in an episode of the TV series 'Bupkis' and the Ice Nine Kills music video for 'A Work of Art' from the 'Terrifier 3' soundtrack.
In addition to bringing Art the Clown to life, Thornton has appeared in other works of horror, including 'The Dark Offerings' (2021), 'The Mean One' (2022), and 'Screamboat Willie' (2025).
Outside of the horror genre, Thornton has provided live action and voice acting work in a number of series, animated projects, and video games.
